Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at Sofía, you will be positioned to make a significant impact on the lives of people and you will be continuously exposed to strategic discussions and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Use machine learning models to understand how our Soci@s use Sofía’s product in order to create value from the data they generate.
• Iterate on the necessary infrastructure to manage the whole lifecycle of a machine learning model, from training to testing, deployment and updating.
• Make sure that the metrics we rely on are trustworthy; this means understanding the processes that generate data and being on top of abnormal deviations.
• Work with Product, Engineering & Marketing/Growth (and all teams @ Sofía) to help them shape their roadmap and strategic priorities.
• Design experiments to evaluate initiatives that are live and identify areas for improvement.
• Help everyone @ Sofía visualize data in a way that helps us arrive at the right conclusions.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of work experience in a quantitative analytical role.
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, etc.).
• Proficiency with R/Python for scripting and analyzing data, as well as with SQL for accessing it.
• A track record of articulating, translating, and solving business problems using data.
• Self-direction and eagerness to collaborate with other teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing/Growth).
• Effective written, verbal and visual communication skills.
• Willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.

Bonus points:

• Knowledge of health care, health economics, or health insurance.
• Applied experience deploying machine learning models into production.
• Experience extracting and manipulating large datasets with tools like Presto or Spark.
